La Vernia is a city located in Wilson County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the town’s population was 1,034, But as of 2018, the town’s estimated population rose to 1,415. The lands were first colonized in 1850. By W.R. Wiseman. It is said that the first name of the community was Live Oak Grove because of the nearby Oaks. Three years later a post office was established by the name Post Oak. In 1859. The town has gained its current name from a Spanish jargon which means “the green”. The community gained its incorporation in 1966. As stated by the U.S Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.4 square miles.
