Lacoste is a city located in Medina County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 1,119 residents. The town’s original name was Fernando when a post office in the area opened in 1893. After three years, the town had a population of 25 residents. In 1898, the town’s name was changed in honor of Jean B. LaCoste. A Frenchman. The town has only 0.6 square miles of the total area according to the U.S Bureau. As of 2000, the town was known as a place with the highest percentage of Alsatian ancestry (Eastern France) with 7.1%.
