Ladonia is a town located in Fannin County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 612. The area which is now present Ladonia was first settled in the 1840s. The town’s original name was “McCownville” for Frank McCown who was the community’s first merchant. McCown changed the name to La Donna in 1857. Supposedly to honor La Donna Millsay, who was a traveler from Tennessee. The community had a post office by the name of Ladonia by 1857. The community was incorporated in 1885. The town’s peak population was reported in 1897. When the town had a total of two thousand residents.
