Humble Pint Brewing takes environmental concerns seriously.  They constantly work to improve their operation’s impact through recycled/upcycled use of brewing grain, methods for reduced water usage during equipment cleaning, investigation of solar options for powering the brewhouse and taproom, and analysis of possible alternate uses for other brewing byproducts, such as side-streaming brewery wastewater.

Frontyard Brewing

Craft Brewery in Austin - 11.19 mi

Frontyard Brewing doesn’t just brew beer. Instead, the brewery aims to build a friendly and family-oriented community, and the “beer is just the invitation”. The brewery currently has a lineup of five beers. These consist of the Belgian Blond Ale, Rye IPA, Coffee Milk Stout, Oatmeal Stout, and Belgian Golden Ale. Instead of putting up their own taproom, a “hallmark” of any brewery, the brewery upon launch upended the traditional brewery business plan by selling their beers first around Austin. As of October 2019, the brewery is busy with the construction of their “front yard”. When finished, it will house the brewery’s expanded facilities, and features the company’s very own taproom. Expected to open by spring 2020, owners and founders Kevin Jones and Chad Worner are hoping to see their fans in their “porch” and sipping on a pint. Meanwhile, Frontyard invites its fans to use the brewery's website to learn where their beers are available.

The brewery also doesn’t have a taproom just yet, but has managed to produce eight varieties. These include Fugarillo, a light golden dry hopped sour, and C-A55, a sour red ale. For distribution, he relies on Flood Independent Distribution. Meanwhile, fans of his beers can check Uncultured Ales’ Facebook page for information on where to find his beers.

That means expansive grounds, outdoor shaded seating at The Oak Grove, a fenced-in playground for kids, live entertainment, and delicious Cajun food courtesy of their partner food truck (from Jep’s Southern Roots of “Duck Dynasty” fame). Austin Beerworks

Craft Brewery in Austin - 16.38 mi

Austin Beerworks' four co-founders believe that “beer brings people together”. To this end, they established Austin Beerworks so “people (will) have a better time”. Austin Beerworks beers are only sold within about 50 miles of Austin, but the brewery is gaining national recognition. They recently made Forbes 11 Best Beers list in 2018. The brand started with their first release in April 2011. Initially raising the eyebrows of craft beer fans by having them distributed in bold, attractive cans, it went from a startup to “growing by over 180% each year”. Today, they have “core four” beers - Peacemaker, Pearl-Snap, Flavor Country, and Fire Eagle. In addition, they have a rotating set of seasonal beers, and the Heavy Machinery seasonal IPA series. They also lay claim to a world's first - the 99-pack - a marketing gimmick to promote their Peacemaker "Anytime Ale". In 2016, Austin Chronicle dubbed them “the new official beer of Austin”. In 2017, they expanded to a 15,000+ square foot warehouse next door to the brewery. Austin Beerworks has been included in our list of 10 Must-Try Craft Breweries in Austin (2020). Hitmaker Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Austin - 16.40 mi

Brian Hyde, Marcos Canchola, Joe Holifield, and Chris Fish released Hitmaker Brewing Company’s first beer, an IPA, only in mid-May 2018. The brewery and its founders, however, are far from being newbies to the business of craft beers. Joe, head brewer and the “creative force” behind their beers, has over a decade of homebrewing experience. He also attended Siebel Institute in Chicago. Meanwhile, the other founders own or co-own several bars and restaurants around Austin. The list includes MugShots, Pour House Pints & Pies, The Hideout Pub, Pour House Pub, Bender Bar & Grill, and Violet Crown Social Club. The brewery’s taproom opened about a year after the release of its first beer. Since then they’ve lined up about 10 beers including a coconut porter and a Kolsch. The taproom is open from Thursdays to Sundays.

12 Fox Beer Co.

Craft Brewery in Dripping Springs - 16.85 mi

Joe and Aaron are army buddies and co-founders of 12 Fox Beer Co. After being stationed in Germany where they got to develop a taste for authentic German beers, both went their separate ways. Having reconnected years later, they decide to establish their own small batch, high-quality European master-crafted beer. They keep things simple – just like the Germans – by using single-sourced malt. And what’s German beer without a biergarten? With their wives' help, they opened one in the Fall of 2018, and now operate a tap room called The Fox Hole in Dripping Springs. Aaron’s wife Melissa creates delicious baked goods from spent grains for the guests. Both couples are busy transforming a Hill County backroad into a German biergarten and giving the community a unique experience. 12 Fox is family- and pet-friendly with a large covered patio, outdoor biergarten, kids’ play area, and small dog park. It also serves other drinks like wine, cider, and mead.

Instead, they’ve got board games, darts, crosswords, and even a “lively topic of conversation at the bar to engage in.” The drinks are the main focus, but people are welcome to bring food or have it delivered.

Circle Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Austin - 16.95 mi

Nashville natives Ben Sabel and Judson Mulherin founded Circle Brewing Company in 2010 making it the oldest microbrewery in North Austin. Adhering to the principles of the German Purity Law, the duo believes in combining the Law "with a little creativity and Texas ingenuity”. This philosophy results in award winning beers including their Alibi Blonde, which won silver at the 2014 World Beer Cup. In 2016, their Archetype Historical IPA won gold at the 2016 edition. Their Doppel Blur Imperial Hefe, meanwhile, took bronze at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival. Circle Brewing is popular with the Austin community because they host several unique events each year. For example, in 2019, the 0.5K Marathon at the brewery's parking lot is on its 6th year. With beer in hand, donors participate in a race and proceeds go to a different charity each year. Another unique event had them team up with Equality Texas during Pride Month. The brewery sold Fanny Pack Kolsch in rainbow-colored cans and donated $1 for each can sold to the non-profit.

Celis Brewery

Craft Brewery in Austin - 17.14 mi

The Celis Brewery name is synonymous with witbier or “white beer”. The name Celis had gone through two iterations previously. Pierre Celis, the legendary brewer, built two breweries - one in Belgium and another in Austin - which ended in "Faustian deals” and forced Pierre to give up the breweries he built. The beer world mourned Pierre's passing in 2011. He is credited with reviving witbier, which had all but died in the 1950s. Celis Brewery “2.0”, essentially the third iteration of the brewery, is by Christine Celis, Pierre’s daughter. With help from outside investors, the brewery and taproom opened in 2017. Using her father’s original recipes, Christine recreated the beers that were her father’s legacy. She also introduced new ones that promise to continue the family name’s legendary reputation. Daytona Camps, Christine's daughter, joins her mother at the brewery. Like her mother, she is also a brewer having perfected her brewing skills around the U.S. and in Europe. Celis Brewery has been included in our list of 10 Must-Try Craft Breweries in Austin (2020). Check out the link to read more!
