Lampasas is a city located in its own Lampasas County in Texas. Needless to say that Lampasas is the county seat. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 6,681. John Burleson gained 1,280 acres of land for his services in the Texas Revolution. He then founded a permanent settlement in the 1850s. John named the city Burleson because of his last name but was changed later because of Lampasas Springs because of its proximity to some mineral springs. The Lampasas county was created in 1856. “The county seat shall be same name as the county” is what the law stated. The city was incorporated in 1883.
