Laredo is a city located in Webb County in Texas. Laredo is the county seat of Webb County. The city’s population was 236,091 as of the 2010 census. Laredo’s citizens are mostly of Mexican heritage with more than 95% Hispanic and Latino residents. Laredo was founded by Spanish colonists in 1755, by Don Tomas Sanchez Barrera. The town used was later occupied by Texas Rangers. Some say that Laredo got its name from Basque word meaning “beautiful pastures”. The U.S Bureau states that Laredo has a total area of 102.6 square miles, while 101.1 square miles of it are land.
