Latexo is a city located in Houston County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 322. The settlement of Latexo dates back to the 1870s as it was first known as Stark’s Switch. The name lasted until 1900. When the Louisiana Texas Orchard Company bought 3000 acres of land near the community (LA TEX O), which is why the community is named that way. The new town was laid out, and a post office was established. The town is distributed by its own Independent School District. The U.S Bureau states that the town has a total area of 0.97 square miles. Fruit and cotton were the main sources of income in the twentieth century.
