Laughlin is an Air Force Base located in Texas. The Air Force Base itself is located in Del Rio which is the county seat of Val Verde County. Laughlin, as a CDP has had a total population of 1,569 as of the 2010 census. Laughlin gained its name originally from Laughlin Army Air Field on March 3rd, 1943. After Jack T. Laughlin who was a Flying Fortress pilot. The Air Force transferred authority of the base to the Strategic Air Command on the first of April in 1957. The current commander of the Air Force Base is Colonel Lee G. Gentile, Jr.
