League City is a city located in Galveston County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 83,560, nearly doubled from the 2000 census when it was 45,444. Today, the city’s estimated population is more than a hundred thousand. The city’s first settlement was on the lands of a former Karankawa Indian village. The first settler of the town was George W. Buttler. He arrived from Louisiana and fortified on the intersection of Clear Creek and Chigger Bayou. The town was incorporated in 1961. As the U.S Bureau states, the town has a total area of 53 square miles, 1.7 square miles of it is water.
