Leona is a city located in Leon County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the town’s population was 175. The town’s post office was established in 1846. Leon County chose Leona as the county seat in the late 1840s but the state disagreed with the choice. In October 1850. The Supreme Court of Texas decided Centerville offered a better location and chose it as the seat. The community is located just six miles of the county seat. The U.S Bureau states that the community has a total area of 2.2 square miles, all of it being land. Leona is distributed by the Centerville Independent School District.
