Little River-Academy is a city located in Bell County in Texas. The population of the city was 1961 as of the 2010 census. In the area of the town, there used to be a fort named Fort Griffin which was built in 1836. Because of fights against Native Americans, Texans settled around Fort Griffin. The railroad arrived in the town in 1880, and a post office was established six years later. By 1914. The community had around 250 residents. The name Little River-Academy came when two towns merged into one. Little River and Academy merged in 1989. To form what is today known as Little River-Academy.
