Longview is a city located mostly in Gregg County in Texas. The city has a small part of the area that is in Harrison County. The 2010 census stated that the town’s population was 80,455. The city itself was established in 1870. That year, the town became a railroad route in East Texas. It was the first incorporated city in Gregg County and since then it is the county seat. Ossamus Hitch Methvin, Sr, was the founder of the town. The city was named when the founder of the town looked from his home and declared “What a long view!”. The city’s public education system is distributed by four different school districts.
