Loraine is a town located in Mitchell County in Texas. The 2010 census states that the town’s population was 602. Loraine was established in the 1880s on the Texas and Pacific Railway. Loraine used to be a cotton and cattle trading center, with the town’s development being slow. Loraine was granted a post office in 1890 and a school was built in 1893. The town reached its highest number of population with more than one thousand. The town’s public education system is distributed by the Loraine Independent School District. The U.S Bureau stated that the town’s total area is exactly one square mile and all of it is land.
