Lyons is an unincorporated coterie located in Burleson County in Texas. Even though Lyons is unincorporated it has its own post office. The area where the community is used to be a railroad worker camp called Pennington in 1880. The town was first called Lyon’s Station but it was later shortened to just Lyons. There was also a city named Lyons in Fayette County but was named after James Lyons. The town’s population hasn’t been updated in thirty years, it still holds the number of 360 residents at the 1990 census. The location of the community is sixteen miles southeast of Caldwell and fifteen miles northwest of Brenham.
