Martinsville is situated in the county of Nacogdoches in in the US state of Texas as an unincorporated community. Its area students are served by the Martinsville Independent School District. The city is located at the intersection of Farm Road 95 and State Highway 7, 14 miles east of Nacogdoches. Martinsville was founded by an Alabama native, Dr. John D. Martin in the 1850s. It was initially referred to as Martin City and had a post office which served between 1867 and 1888. This city realised two churches, a school and ten businesses by mid 1930s. After World War II, a number of businesses closed down.
