Mason is located in the county of Mason in Texas, United States. It is an agricultural-based community in the southwest of Mason Mountain. Mason is found on Comanche Creek. According to the census of 2010, Mason City had an estimated population of 2,114. The city was established as a county seat in 1861. In 1869, a jail and the first courthouse were built. It is however considered as one of the 5 most aesthetic squares in Texas. This city is commonly referred to as the Gem of the Hill Country because of its beauty. The only place where Topaz can be found is in the county of Mason at the base of streams.
