The Mauriceville census-designated place is located at the intersection of State Highways 12 and 62 in Texas, Orange County. The area also referred to as Maurice was established during the construction of Texarkana and Fort Smith railway and Orange and Northwestern railroad in 1898 and 1902, respectively. The area was named after Maurice Miller, who was the son of the Orange and Northwestern Railroad’s president. The first post office was established here in 1906. Besides, Beaumont Land Corporation played an essential role in the development of this area in 1910. Lumbering was a significant economic activity in this area. However, due to a depletion in timber, citizens shifted to other commercial activities.
