Maydelle is an unincorporated community at the intersection of Farm Road 2138 and U.S. Highway 84. The town is also referred to as Camp Wright, and the city was first settled in the 1840s. However, this community was not developed until 1906. The development of this community was facilitated by the construction of the Texas State Railroad through this area. The town was named after Governor Thomas Mitchell Campbell’s daughter, Maydelle Campbell. Maydelle played a vital role during the extension of the State rail tracks. The population of this area increased significantly but declined during World War II. After the war, the community revived and more businesses were established.
