The U.S. city of McCamey is located along the U.S. Highway 67 in Upton County, Texas. The discovery of oil in this area significantly contributed to the tremendous growth of this city. The city was named after George B. McCamey, who facilitated the arrival of Corpus Christi, a real estate developer. Christi then established a townsite near the oil well, and the city grew along Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway. In 1826, a post office was established. The Humble Oil Company Refinery is one of the original oil refineries constructed in the West, Texas. The refinery would later in 1940, lure Bill Noel to relocate to this area.
