The US unincorporated community of Medina is located in Bandera County, in the state of Texas. The community is renowned world over for its apples. Its population in 2000 was estimated at 515. The community lies at the intersection of Farm Road 337 and State Highway 16. By 1865, Medina already had a sawmill and several families had settled in the neighborhood. A post office was opened in the area in 1880. By 1890, Medina had three general stores, two churches, a private bank, a hotel, a corn mill, and a gin. At the time, its population stood at 150. The population grew to 400 by 1914.
