Mentone Town is located in Loving County in the US state of Texas. Being the only community in Loving County, it is the county’s county seat. Its population in 2010, as per the 2010 census, was 19. Before 2010, Mentone held a record of being America’s least-populated and unincorporated county seat. However, the 2010 census unveiled Mentone’s replacement as Gann Valley in South Dakota. The town was named after Menton City in France. This was the second community in Loving County to be named Mentone. Another town had been founded south of the present-day Mentone in 1893 but abandoned in 1905.
