Mico is an unincorporated community located in Medina County in Texas. The Medina Irrigation Company originally constructed a big part of the community as a workers camp for around 1,500 workers who built Medina Dam. Back then, when it was created, the dam was the fourth biggest dam in the United States. The dam was established in 1913. The town is named Mico for The Medina Irrigation Company, whose acronyms create the word MICO. The name used to be spelled for each acronym separately and was later renamed to Medina Lake in 1916. It was reverted to Mico just seven years after that. Even though the community isn’t incorporated, Mico has a post office.
