Midlothian is a city located in Ellis County in Texas. The town is mostly used for the cement industry. As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 18,037. The settlement of the town came to be in the 1800s, but the full settlement of the town didn’t happen until 1846. The town was named Midlothian in 1883, and as the local legend states, it was named after a railway was passing through the town and a Scottish engineer declared that the town reminded him of his hometown in Scotland. Midlothian continued growing and was incorporated in1888. The public’s education system is distributed by the Midlothian Independent School District.
