Miles is a city situated in Runnels County in Texas. The city was originally named for a person named Johnatan Miles who donated money to fund an extension of railroad tracks. The city’s peak population was in the 1910s when Miles had around 1300 people living in the town. Since then, the reported population started to diminish and was never over a thousand ever since. It has since then fallen to a low of 626 in the 1960s but has risen back up to an estimate of 862 at the 2010 census. The city’s total area is 1.4 square miles and all of it is land.
