Mingus is a city located in Palo County in Texas. The town had its beginnings in the 1860s and in the period from the 1860s to the 1890s it was known as a “wet” town, because of a variety of liquor stores and bars. The U.S Bureau stated that the town’s total area is 1.5 square miles and all of it being land. The town’s total population as of the 2010 census is 235 residents. The town’s peak population was in the 1940s when the community had almost six hundred residents. The city of Mingus’s public education system is being distributed by the Gordon Independent School District.
