Two partners, J.R. Billingsley and M.C. Laughlin arrived in the area with their corn and wheat mill sometime before the year 1874. George Morgan was the guy who purchased into the mill in 1877 and was very influential so the town was named after him, Morgan Mill. The town had its peak of population in the 1940s with a number of 261 residents living in the area. The town of Morgan Mill itself is unincorporated and the most recent number was an estimate of around 200 citizens as of the year 2000. The town’s public education system is being distributed by the Morgan Mill Independent School District.
