The town of Mound is placed on the Farm to Market Road 1829. Mound is situated in Coryell County in Texas. The town was named after the White Mound School which was actually named for a white chalk hill in the area. The town’s establishers arrived in the area in the early 1850s which makes the town of Mound one of the oldest communities in Coryell County. The first railroad of the town was built in 1882 when the Texas and St. Louis Railway was built. The town was also granted a post office just two years after the railway was built. Since 1971, the town’s public education system is being distributed by the Gatesville Independent School District.
