The town of Mount Pleasant was founded on the eleventh of May, 1846. The town was the county seat of Titus County ever since it was established. The town wasn’t really growing until the Texas and St. Louis Railway arrived in the area in the early 1880s. Many tourists that wanted to improve their health came to the town because of the mineral springs in the area. The town’s population was 15,564 as of the 2010 census. The total area of the town is 12.7 square miles and 0.2 square miles of it is water. Most part of the city’s public education system is distributed by the Mount Pleasant Independent School District.
