Nada is situated in southern Colorado County. Its original name was Vox Populi, derived from Latin ‘the voice of the people is the voice of God’. The present name is an American version of the Czechoslovakian word ‘najda’ that means hope. The first settlers arrived in February 1881. Many of the early settlers were Germans and Czechs from the Frelsburg area. The original site of Nada was approximately 200 yards east of the present site while the businesses were moved nearer to the highway. Nada has remained as an agricultural community. The population of 165 in 1986 remained the same in 2000.
