Named after Philip Nolan, the community of Nolanville dates back to the 1850s. The town was once known as Nolan Valley but was changed when the railroad arrived in the early 1880s. Nolanville was one of the earliest settlements in the Bell County. Nolanville had been the old name for Belton before the latter became county seat in 1852. Nolanville School was one of the largest rural schools in the County in the early 1900s. After World War II, the population declined but later in 1960s Nolanville was caught up in the expansion of the Killeen-Fort Hood area. Its population then increased drastically after 1968.
