Paris is located in "Tornado Alley" which is an area largely centered in the middle of the United States wherein frequent tornadoes happen because of weather patterns and geography. It is situated in Northeast Texas at the western edge of the Piney Woods, and 98 miles (158 km) northeast of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.With a total area of 44.4 square miles, they reached a population of 24,800 in 2017. The city is also the county seat of Lamar County, Texas. It was named "Paris" after France's capital.
