Peggy started as a community in the early 1930s when landowners H. R. Smith and John Mowinkle had several hundred laborers clear the land for crop planting. A store called Hollywood was built by C. E. and Clara Nichols to serve the needs of the workers and area residents. Gin was also built across the road and the area became known as Hollywood but in the late 1930s, when a post office was opened, its name was changed to Peggy Mowinkle, a niece of John Mowinkle. This an unincorporated community in Atascosa County, Texas has a ZIP code of 78062. It is situated at the intersection of Farm Road 99 and an unnamed paved road twenty-seven miles southeast of Jourdanton in southeastern Atascosa County. They reached a population of 50 in 1961 but went down to 22 in 2000.
