Pollok was a railroad stop in the 1880s and was built by Richard Blair and it was known as Bodan, after Frenchman Francis D. Bodan, a storekeeper on the "old Smugglers' Road" some 20 miles W of Nacogdoches. In 1886, the name accepted for the post office was Pollok. This unincorporated community in Angelina County, Texas is situated eleven miles northwest of Lufkin near the Angelina River. Pollok gets its supplies from a small grocery store named The 69 Store which was founded by the Young family. Also, the Central Independent School District serves area students. The population in 2007 was 9,456.
