Post is a city in and the county seat of Garza County that can be found in the Panhandle region of the U.S. state of Texas. It was founded in 1907 when Charles William Post, a cereal manufacturer, speculated on developing the area as a model town. The settlement started under the name Post City and it stood as a colonizing venture of C.W. Post. He soon constructed numerous businesses that included the Algerita Hotel, a gin, and a textile plant. Postex Cotton Mills, a large company with 250 employees, remained to be the town’s leading industry. The company was eventually sold to Burlington Industries, which was the world’s largest textile manufacturer at that time. Farming, ranching, and oilfield services also significantly contributed to the town’s economy. Post remained to be the home of some historical sites such as the restored Algerita Hotel, OS Ranch Museum, Garza County Museum, and the Garza Theater. As of 2010, it has a population of 5,376.
