Ravenna can be found in northwestern Fannin County. The first settlers arrived as early as 1850 when the community was known as Willow Point. The name was suggested because there were many ravines in the vicinity, in particular one that cut through the middle of the townsite. The town was incorporated in 1887. The Ravenna College was established in that same year but was relocated to Ector two years later. During the late 1920s, Ravenna served as a trade and cotton center. The Ravenna school was annexed by the Bonham school system in 1949. In 2010, the total population was estimated to be 209.
