Rising Star is a town located at the junction of State Highway 36 and U.S Highway 183 in Eastland County, Texas. The first settlers settled in this area in 1876. The first post office was established in 1878 with Hendrick Osburn as the postmaster. The place was initially referred to as Copperas Creek, but the name was changed in 1889 to Rising Star due to the robust crop production. D.D McConnell suggested the title of this area. By 1889, the town had established five businesses. The Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad was constructed in this area in 1911. The oil discovery in Rising Star attracted other settlers to this place.
