Robert Lee is a County Seat of Coke County that is found at the intersection of State Highways 158 and 208. The city was founded by L.B Harris and R.E Cartledge. Harris and Cartledge were on the frontline on the push to transfer the County Seat from Hayrick to this area due to inadequate water supply in Hayrick. Moreover, the two also argued that Hayrick was far from the county’s center. In 1891, this area won the County Seat election attracting many settlers from Hayrick. In the same year, the city founded its first post office. The city was named after Robert E. Lee who set up a camp near this current town.
