Romayor is an unincorporated community that lies at the intersection of Farm Roads 787 and 2610 in Liberty County, Texas. Its close proximity to Trinity River led to the community’s initial name, River before 1900. The townsite also hosted a number of sawmills before the Civil War. In the late nineteenth century, rice farming was introduced in this area. Consequently, the economy of this area improved tremendously. In 1903, the first post office was founded in this community. The post office was named after the grant on which it was established. The Trinity Valley Voice was published in Romayor between 1939 and 1940.
