Rosebud is found along the State Highway 77 in Falls County, Texas. The city was developed in 1889 by the Texas Townsite Company. Greer’s Horsepen or Pool’s Crossing was the original settlement in this area located on Pond Creek’s western bank. Albert G. Tarver established a post office in 1884 called Mormon. The post office was named after a Mormon group that settled in this place. In 1887, the settlement was destroyed by fire leading to Tarver’s resignation as the postmaster. The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway was constructed through Rosebud by 1892, leading to its rapid development. In November 1905, this city was incorporated.
