A part of the Waco Metropolitan area, the city Ross was named for William Ross who bought the townsite and divided it into lots in 1926. Ross has a small population of about 234 people, which is one of the reasons its inhabitants can easily commute in a matter of minutes. Compared to the rest of the United States, the small city of Ross has a relatively low cost of living. It has an unemployment rate of 3.6%, but of recent, it has shown potential of positive job growth as jobs have shown a 1.1 percent increase. One of the perks of living in Ross is its humid subtropical climate characterized by mild to cool winters and hot humid summers.
