Roxton is a city in Lamar County, Texas. It has a population of 650. It was established in 1837 by Jesse Shelton and it was named Shelton at first. Cane Creek is located just three miles from where the city is. The town moved closer to the railroad in the end of the 19th century and the first settlement was then known as old Roxton. The city is somewhat known for the special care it takes of its cemetery. It’s always meticulously cared for and there are American flags flying at all times.
