Rye is an unincorporated community in Liberty County, Texas, United States. There was a settlement there but it really started to grow at the turn of the century when the railroad was built. During the 40s it has about 60 residents most of them working in the lumber industry. Rye has had about 76 residents in the last census and the lumber industry still remains the biggest employer in town. Rye is zoned to schools in the Hardin Independent School District.
