It has a median income of $21.000 per family. It comprises of 744 households. The city was founded in the 1860s by Charles Stillman. Santa Rosa was the name of his family ranch from which the community grew. It was a stop for cotton wagons during the Mexican war. The population grew up until the Great Depression when it declined sharply.
