Scroggins is an unincorporated community in Franklin County, Texas, United States. The census wasn’t taken in Scroggins, but it’s believed to have about 120 residents. The community is located fifteen miles south of Mount Vernon and twenty-two miles east of Sulphur Springs. The settlement was started in 1850 by Milt Scroggins who operated a local mill. The city isn’t incorporated but it has a post office and a zip code, which is 75480. The railroad came to the city in 1891 but it took a big hit during the great depression when it was reduced to a single store and the population size never quite recovered.
