Selman City is an unincorporated community in western Rusk County, Texas, United States. The area around Selman City is also known as Turnertown. Even though it’s unincorporated it still has a zip code and it’s 75689. The town came to be in 1930 when oil was discovered in the area. The discovery was made on the personal property of A. Selman, whose family had been early Rusk County pioneers and the town was named after him. The population peaked in 1947 and now it’s at about 200 residents.
