Sheridan is an unincorporated community in Colorado County, Texas, United States. The population of the city is estimated at 225, but it’s possible that it’s now lower than that. The city was founded in 1908 when Hugh Sheridan sold land to a loan company who in turn partnered with the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. In 1940 the Shell Oil company drilled and oil well in the city and it was operational until a big fire that engulfed it in 1950. The city is also proclaimed to be the “Deer Hunting Capital of Texas.”
