Simonton is a city in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States, within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. The city has a population of 814 according to the last census. It was founded in 1850 when a plantation was founded in the area. The plantation was broken up and sold after the civil war and that’s when the Pioneer Era started. The city become famous internationally in 1979 when the president of China visited US. President Xiaping visited Huston during his stay and stopped in Simonton for a rodeo show. It was considered a landmark in the improving relations between two countries.
