Sinton is a city in and the county seat of San Patricio County, Texas, United States. It has a population of 5.665 according to the last census. The city is named for David Sinton, an industrialist. Sinton was established in 1855 and its size changed a bit since in 1954 a wildlife refuge was established and it took up a chunk of the city. From 1948 to 1958, Sinton was the home to the Plymouth Oilers, a semiprofessional baseball team sponsored by Plymouth Oil Company, which had drilling rights close to the city of Sinton. It has some national success but when the company wasn’t able to support the team any more, it shot down.
