Spur is a city in Dickens County, Texas, United States. It has a population of 1.318. In 2009 the city celebrated its centennial. It has a median income of $24.000 and about 470 households. The city is most well known as being friendly towards building tiny houses. This is done with a series of local regulations that allow for building these tiny residences but making sure that they are actually useable and safe. Red McCombs (1927-), a San Antonio businessman who owned the NBA's San Antonio Spurs and NFL's Minnesota Vikings, was born in Spur. So is Marshall Applewhite (1931–1997), the leader of the Heaven's Gate cult.
