Stafford is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within the Houston–The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. In 2010 it had a population of about 17.000. The name comes from a plantation owner who was settled in the area in 1830s. There are about 4.000 families living in the city now and making over $60.000 a year. The city is known as a bedroom community for the Huston area. It’s also a city without municipal property tax which makes that position easier and accounts for some the city’s success. Texas Instruments (TI) operates a production facility in Stafford. It accounts for about 20 percent of local jobs.
